Victorian Knitted Lace Edges

Description

Together we will explore the crazy world of Victorian knitting patterns. There were no standard terms, patterns were more like guidelines and etchings were occasionally given for a working given — no photographs. Working together we will translate them into modern lace edges using actual patterns from the V&A collection.

Materials Needed

  • 50 grams fingering weight cotton in a plain, light color. Traditionally, Victorian knitted lace was worked in white.
  • US size 4 (3.5 mm) needles, any style. Pointy tips are MUCH better.

Homework

None
