Shop Happenings: July 2014

July is a very busy month here at Chez Fairy. First and foremost, our holiday hours will be as follows:
Wednesday July 2nd: Regular hours, 12-5
Thursday July 3rd: Shortened hours, 1-5pm – NO NIGHT CLASS
Friday July 4th: Closed
Saturday July 5th: Regular hours, 12-5pm
Sunday July 6th: Regular Hours, 12-5pm
We are always closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

And, speaking of four… WE ARE FOUR! Yes, Knitting Fairy will be celebrating it’s fourth birthday on Saturday July 12th, 12-5pm. We are having a bbq party! Bring your knitting friends, maybe a lawn chair, of course you knitting and come join us! We have lovely shade out our back door most all day long. Knitting Fairy will provide hot dogs, chips and cold drinks. And cake, there must be cake! You are welcome to contribute if you wish, but it is not necessary. Just bring yourselves and join us in celebrating 4 WONDERFUL years!

On July 13th from 12-5pm Mary from Butterfly Girl Designs is offering Build A Batt. This is a great opportunity for spinners to come blend up custom colorways and for knitters to learn more about what goes into your yarn! There is no charge to attend, any batt you create is sold by the ounce.

SOCKS! You asked for it and we are offering another Top Down Sock class on Saturday July 19, 26 and August 2nd from 10am to Noon. You will be making socks from the top down in this class, you can use dpns, 2 circs or magic loop- whatever floats your boat! You will need to purchase supplies for this class in addition to the class fee.
Cost: $45 (this is a three session class)

Amy’s Felted Flower Class
Saturday July 19th 1-3pm
Cost: $55 (includes kit)
Instructor: Amy
Come learn how to create beautiful embellished flowers with the wet felting process. NO KNITTING OR CROCHET needed, no experience necessary! During this 3 hour class you will create a one of a kind flower from start to finish. It is the perfect way to begin your adventures in wet felting.

Spinning Silk Hankies
Sunday July 20th 2-4pm
Cost: $20 plus the cost of your materials (available here or bring your own)
Instructor: Mary
This class will teach you to create lovely silk yarns from hand dyed silk hankies. You can use either a drop spindle or a wheel but you should already know spinning basics to take this class.

Introduction to Lace Knitting (with charts)
This is a repeat of our sold out class from earlier this year. In this class we will be working on basic lace knitting techniques, starting with the written word and covering how to both make the stitches and back them out. As we become familiar with the knitting we will progress into making the same stitches from charts. – Only 2 spots remain open in this class!
Sunday (oops!) July 27th, 1-4pm
Cost: $35, includes three patterns.

Did you know that you can request any class? You don’t have to wait for us to schedule it! Just give us a call and talk to Alissa, together we will pick dates and times that work for you and then we will invite others to join in the fun.

Your payment secures your spot in any class. Class fees are not refundable less than one week from the start of the class. You can come into the shop to sign up or call the shop at (214)412-2889 during regular business hours, or leave us a message and we will call you back when we are open.
