The Yarn Crawl is here and that means lots of special things are happening here at the Fairy. We have the greatest friends ever and we have brought many of them together to share their talents with you! Some are here for the duration of the crawl, others are here only for a day or two, so be sure to read it all and get your calendars ready – we would hate for you to miss a thing!
Our shop hours will remain the same as always during the yarn crawl:
Sunday: 10am – 5pm
Monday: 10am – 5pm
Wednesday: 10am – 5pm
Thursday: 10am – 9pm
Friday: 10am – 5pm
Saturday: 10am – 5pm
For the entire crawl we are so very happy to have a special selection of handmade items for crafters from our friends, Sony and Misty, at Knitting Lagniappe. This dynamic mother/daughter combo does it all, from spinning and dyeing to pottery and jewelry, there is something here for everyone! Sony’s yarn bowl and Misty’s stitch markers are always sought after and they will likely go fast.
We are also thrilled to have an ongoing special selection of hand turned wood items (yarn bowls, decorative bowl, notsepinnes, darning eggs and more) from Paul Carlson. You may already be familiar with Paul’s work from our past several booths at DFW Fiber Fest, but wait until you see what he has rolled out this time! If you are super lucky there will still be some here… because I am already eyeing a few.
Round Table Yarns will be taking over the entire front room of our store with her complete show set up, including her latest book, A Parliament of Cowls. The selection will be available for the entire crawl, but Karen will only be here Friday, August 18 and Saturday, August 19. If you want to grab an autographed copy be sure to make it early those two days. Also, we have collaborated to bring our a kit in support of Team Awesomesauce as they walk in the DFW Hemophilia Foundation’s 5K walk again this October. Alissa has created a brand new pattern called Jarngreipr (Fingerless mitts, sized for the entire family) and Karen has dyed a beautiful sky blue with silver flecks yarn (Bryen’s favorite colors) called “Sir Bryen”. We will have a limited number of these kits available for purchase during the crawl. Once those are gone we will be taking pre-paid, pre-orders to be picked up later. Last year we were able to raise quite a bit of money for Team Awesomesauce with Bryen’s Hat. Let’s see if we can’t outdo ourselves this year!
Handmade Soaps, Lotions, Balms etc by Della Penelope will available only the first weekend of the crawl, August 18-20. These are my favorite soaps, I am always excited to see what Deb and Emily have cooked up each season. The full listing of products is available at the shop and on our website. Please note: Lavender items are available, but since Alissa is terribly allergic, they will be kept outside of the store. Deb or Emily will be happy to sell them to you, but we ask you to please take them to your car.
The big news is that we are bringing our very good friend, Lindsey, from Erin Lane Bags into town for the first weekend of the crawl as well! Lindsey will have all her usual products as well as her latest line of Sheeple bags. Don’t know the Sheeple?? You are in for a treat! There is a Sheeple for just about every fandom and craft… but my personal favorite (maybe my long lost twin??) is the black sheep of the family, Foul Mouth Larry. He never fails to make me smile! Lindsey and Erin Lane Bags will be in the store only August 18, 19 and 20.
Spinners – DO NOT DESPAIR! We have not forgotten about you! The entire second weekend of the crawl we are dedicating our classroom to you and a full two-day marathon of Build A Batt. Butterfly Girl (Mary) will be in the store Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27 from 10-5 working her drum carding magic and helping you to create your very own spinning batts from her immense collection of fibers.
Finally, but no means the least, Allison from Safronie Yarns, dyer of our fabulous shop-dyed “Fairy Tales” yarns has been hard at work. Not just in restocking our Fairy Tales, but in bringing us a bunch of new yarns. All these goodies are, of course, in limited quantities. Anytime she updates here at the shop the yarns fly away, I don’t expect these to be any different. All the Safronie Yarns will be here starting Friday, August 18th for the duration of the crawl or until we sell out.
We will be open during regular shop hours during the yarn crawl, and we cannot wait to see all the fun. Of course, there will be prizes… what fun is a crawl without prizes?? Don’t forget to fill out your door prize entry and also, ask us where you can find our Eventzee QR code. The grand prize for this year’s game is amazing!!!
