Dream in Color

  • Posted on August 5, 2011 at 1:33 pm

I am SO totally excited! I unpacked a box of Dream in Color Smooshy today. We now have all 11 of the Fire Scorched colors in stock. These are all semi-solid colors with black undertones and they are, indeed, dreamy! The Smooshy is a fingering weight yarn perfect for socks, shawls and other yummy projects. Better yet? They are all 100% Australian Merino, spun and hand-dyed right here in the USA! Even Brad was in here picking out his favorite colors earlier… was that a hint for socks?

Special Surprise Inside!

  • Posted on November 26, 2010 at 8:07 pm

I am totally thrilled to tell you that I just picked up a special box from our friends, Ron and Theresa at Buffalo Gold Premium Fibers.  Yes, real buffalo yarn.

First up we have 9 colors of LUX. This laceweight yarn is 45% American Bison Down, 20% cashmere, 20% silk and 15% tencel – 100% YUMMY!  Each 40g skein has 330 yards. I’m thinking about a lace scarf for me.  Maybe in that lovely purple color?

As we dig on through the box (and believe me, it was hard to put the Lux down!) we find a bag of HEAVEN. This is also laceweight, available in it’s natural brown color only, Heaven is 100% Buffalo Down and each 50g skein has 400 yards.

Further in we find EARTH, 90% Buffalo Down/10% nylon in a sport weight yarn.  Each 62g skein is 200 yards.  This would make some lovely fingerless mitts!

We also have a great selection of patterns for the yarn to give you some gift ideas.

Since this is our special Stitchin’ Weekend we will have fresh from the oven cookies and hot drinks all weekend as well, so make your plans and spend some quality time with us here at the Knitting Fairy Yarn Studio!

Knit with Beads! – openings

  • Posted on August 6, 2010 at 12:57 pm

After further class rearranging, we now have 2 openings in the 1-3pm Knit with Beads class which starts on August 14th and continues on August 21 and 28th.

We will be making a sampler piece first that will teach you 4 different ways to place beads into your knitting and then, in week two we will be starting your beaded shawl. If you are a beginning knitter or just want something simple to make I would suggest you try our Triangulum shawl.
Triangulum

Feeling a bit more brave but wanting something still kind of easy to follow? Try out the Shoulder Bling Shawl.

Are you one of those people who likes to jump straight into the deep end of the pool? Counterspell is the shawl for you!
Counterspell

No matter which shawl you pick you will have something lovely to show for your new beading skills.
Call or come by the studio today to reserve your space.

Drop-in Knitting Class

  • Posted on July 21, 2010 at 10:34 am

Did you know you can bring any knitting project to our Thursday night drop-in knitting class and get help? I love a challenge, so dig out those UFO’s (unfinished objects) and bring em’ in!  It’s hotter than the hinges of Hell now, but soon enough you will wish you had finished those sweaters that need only to be sewn up. Let’s get it done, maybe we can summon an early winter?

Last chance on Brooks Farm Yarn

  • Posted on July 17, 2010 at 9:49 am

Stitchin’ at the Studio happens this Sunday from 1-4pm. Bring your yarn, bring a friend and come stitch with us in the air conditioned comfort of the Knitting Fairy Yarn Studio.

The trunk show from Brooks Farm Yarn is still on display while Sherry and the gang are at Midwest Folk and Fiber Festival – so take advantage while you can and shop this great opportunity. We still have a very nice amount of Solo Silk and Acero because Sherry is AWESOME and dyed up 144 skeins for us before she left!

Hope to see you this weekend,

Alissa

Welcome!

Dear Yarny friends,

We are so happy to be in our new home and we want to welcome you too.  I hope you will join us this Saturday, July 10th from 12-5pm for our Grand Opening Party.  The grill will be going (Thanks, John!) and the studio will be rockin’! Come by, eat, shop and check out our new digs.  We will start serving food at Noon and go until it is gone! The yarn studio will be open for your shopping pleasure and we have a few surprises in store for you as well.  The icing on our Grand Opening cake is a very special Trunk Show from our friends at Brooks Farm Yarns! Sherry, who does not sell to shops, has agreed to let us have a peek into the closet and has dyed 12 special colorways of Acero and 10 Solo Silk that you will never see again.  There are 6 skeins of each color – so plan to get there early for the best selection!

Of course, we have other yarns too and goodies sure to please any fiber-crafter.

The Studio is open for our regular business hours, so there is no need to wait until Saturday unless you have a hankerin’ for John’s cooking…

We are open:

Thursday 1-9pm  (Drop-in Knitting Class from 7-9pm $10/person)

Friday 12-5pm

Saturday 12-5pm – FOOD and FUN!

Sunday 12-4pm – Stitchin’ at the Studio from 1-4pm

We have been working like crazy since our return from Michigan, trying to make this new space our home.  The front entry has a fireplace, nice and cozy! Today the guys worked at putting up our slat walls so I can hang needles.  It’s looking good.  Just a few more hooks…

The yarn room is shaping up nicely and with more boxes on the way it should soon be bursting at the seams.

I did manage to bring back some nifty new hand-dyed yarns from Patrice at the Accidental Knitter.  If you have never worked with her yarns you are in for quite a treat!

I have saved the very best for last… our new – GIGANTIC classroom! We will have plenty of space for class and then some.

We are having a party on July 10th to celebrate our Grand Opening! Please come by, enjoy some good food and check out the new digs for yourself.  We will be here from 12-5pm.  The food will be served starting at noon until it runs out.  There will be some special surprises too…   Hope to see you there.

Please note: We will be closed on Sunday, July 4th for Independence Day.  We wish you a safe and happy 4th!
