Plugging right along…

I had a fabulous day with my family for Mother’s Day, I hope you did too.  This week we are back to our regularly scheduled events, Drop-in Knitting on Thursday from 7-9pm and Stitchin’ at the Studio on Sunday from 1-4pm.  Details on these events can be found in earlier posts this month.

CounterspellWhat’s new? I have been chosen to design and teach a shawl especially for the Dallas Handknitters Guild.  This shawl will be lace with an option for beading and will be presented in 4 programs, September, October, November and December.  I will post more on the details of each program as the dates draw nearer but for now I am busy swatching and designing.  Eventually, this pattern will be released as a Knitting Fairy pattern both for yarns we carry and Brooks Farm Yarn so if you are NOT a member of the DHKG (and why aren’t you a member?!) then hang in there, you can get yours too- but not until 2011!

Other news… Knitting Fairy is pleased to be the sponsor of Stitch It! podcast for the month of May.  To enter to win you must donate to the podcast and your name will be entered into a drawing to win a shawl kit for our Counterspell shawl.  Meghan does a fantastic job, we love her and we know you will too! Give her a listen and enter to win!!!

This week at Knitting Fairy

We have a Knit Night scheduled for Thursday night, April 22nd from 7-9pm, $10.  Bring any knitting dilemma and get some help from Alissa.

On Sunday (April 25th) we will be Stitchin’ at the Studio from 1-4pm.  Bring any needlework project and join us for a fun afternoon of fibery goodness.  There is no charge for this gathering.

While you are here, take a look around at the new arrivals in the showroom.  Just unpacked today – Needle Gauges from Debra’s Garden including the Dark Purple “Animal Welfare Awareness” fundraisers are back in stock. We managed to wrangle another shipment of the Imperial Blue Sterling Silk and Silver that we had at Fiber Fest.  Not the standard Imperial Blue, this one is more purple than blue and STUNNING! (due to the limited nature of this colorway it is not listed on our website.  Email us if you wish to purchase and we can let you know what we have in stock) We have also restocked the Sweet Little Things pins that were so popular at FiberFest and thanks to the UPS man, our needle inventory is back where it should be and Chiaogoo Swifts are back too.

Wish you could shop but can’t stay for class? No problem! Come on by the studio and browse, we will be glad to see you. Alissa will most likely be there all afternoon on Thursday, so if the door is locked – knock! Or, call first and let us know you are on the way and we will be sure to meet you. (Not that we plan to leave, but a soul needs to eat from time to time)

Hope to see you soon!

Thursday night Knit

  • Posted on April 14, 2010 at 11:34 pm

Due to demand, I will now be offering a Thursday night knit class at the studio from 7-9pm.  Email or call ahead, or drop by for help on your current project.  Our first Thursday night knit will be tomorrow, April 15th.  Any knitting project is welcome!  For now, drop ins are very welcome.  Seating is limited, so if we get busy that may have to change.  The cost for this class is $10/night.

Of course, you are welcome to shop the showroom while you are there.  Even if you don’t want to stay for class, the showroom will be open and our full selection of needles/yarn and yarny goodness is waiting for you.

I can’t wait to see you there!

Debuting at Stitches West last weekend were our two latest patterns:

Counterspell BackCounterspell Front

Counterspell is an all-over knitted lace shawl with beads throughout.  Made with fingering weight yarn and #9 needle, this shawl can be made in a 48″, 62″ or 76″ width as well as a “sample” size that will fit an 18″ doll!

Matadora

Matadora is a cute cropped sweater that is knit from the top down, perfect for your first sweater or just for something quick and fun.  Made with worsted weight yarn and a #8 needle, sized to fit chest sizes 36″, 40″ and 44″.

Both patterns are available as pdf downloads or as printed patterns at our online store: www.KnittingFairy.com

Just as a reminder: We are Stitchin’ at the Studio tomorrow, March 7th from 1-4pm.  Hope to see you there!

You will need 2 skeins for the 60″ shawl and 3 for the 80″ version.
