With this article, we are pleased to announce our regular business hours – which take effect immediately.  (actually, we were planning to announce them on the 1st, but no time like the present- right?!)

Fridays from Noon – 5pm

Saturdays from Noon – 5 pm

Sundays from Noon – 4pm

We are open on Mondays- Wednesday by appointment only at this time.

Our Stitchin’ at the Studio will still be happening every Sunday from 1-4pm, grab a chair around the table and join us for a great time.  Oh yea, and bring your knitting!

New Tab

It is always a struggle to come up with the best way to keep in contact with friends and customers.  I try to keep this blog current, but having to sort through every post to find studio hours and class dates is annoying for ME, I can’t imagine why you would want to do it.  I have searched and searched for a calendar widget for this blog but I don’t find anything I like.  Today while brainstorming with Brad over the problem we hit upon a possible answer.  Create a separate tab up at the top of this screen for a CALENDAR! Novel, no?  So, when you want to see if we will be open the day before Memorial day (we will!), you just have to check this blog and click the “Calendar” tab!  Could it really be this easy? I hope so.  Let me know how it works for you, please?

Plugging right along…

I had a fabulous day with my family for Mother’s Day, I hope you did too.  This week we are back to our regularly scheduled events, Drop-in Knitting on Thursday from 7-9pm and Stitchin’ at the Studio on Sunday from 1-4pm.  Details on these events can be found in earlier posts this month.

CounterspellWhat’s new? I have been chosen to design and teach a shawl especially for the Dallas Handknitters Guild.  This shawl will be lace with an option for beading and will be presented in 4 programs, September, October, November and December.  I will post more on the details of each program as the dates draw nearer but for now I am busy swatching and designing.  Eventually, this pattern will be released as a Knitting Fairy pattern both for yarns we carry and Brooks Farm Yarn so if you are NOT a member of the DHKG (and why aren’t you a member?!) then hang in there, you can get yours too- but not until 2011!

Other news… Knitting Fairy is pleased to be the sponsor of Stitch It! podcast for the month of May.  To enter to win you must donate to the podcast and your name will be entered into a drawing to win a shawl kit for our Counterspell shawl.  Meghan does a fantastic job, we love her and we know you will too! Give her a listen and enter to win!!!

May!

Well, May has arrived and brought spring showers with it.  My plants are loving it and I am getting lots of knitting time.

First, let me give you the schedule of events for May:

May 6th – Drop in Knitting Class 7-9pm $10/person

May 9th – Mother’s Day – NO STITCHIN’ AT THE STUDIO!

May 13th – Drop in Knitting Class 7-9pm $10/ person

May 16th – Stitchin’ at the Studio – 1-4pm – FREE

May 20th – Drop in Knitting Class 7-9pm $10/person

May 27th – Drop in Knitting Class 7-9pm $10/person

May 30th – Stitchin’ at the Studio – 1-4pm – FREE

I am working on setting up more classes and more hours that our showroom is open to the public.  We are there on Thursdays from 1-9, please feel free to call or come by.  The showroom is always open during Stitchin’ at the Studio days and we welcome you to come browse at your leisure.  Feel free to drop me a note (alissa@knittingfairy.com) if there is a time you would like to come by, I will make arrangements to meet you!  In the neighborhood? Drop by and see if we are there! We often are and willing welcome anyone who shows up.

Thank you to Betty Kay! She stepped in and opened the studio for me this Sunday while I traveled to Guthrie, OK at the last minute to fill in for an ailing Sally Melville (glup!)  I had a fantastic time at the SWAK KnitOut 2010 and I hear you guys had fun without me.  I will be back on the 16th for sure, but my kids want to take me out on Mother’s day.  How can you say no to that?

Our wonderful friends at Brooks Farm Yarn had a great couple of shows (Stitches South and MD Sheep and Wool) and actually ran out of inventory of some of our patterns! For those who might be looking, you can find most of the Knitting Fairy patterns for Brooks Farm Yarn HERE.  I say most, the very latest ones are not up yet (Triangulum and Deep Ribs) but if you drop me an email (alissa@knittingfairy.com) and tell me what you would like I can send you a specific invoice with those items included.  As soon as Brad returns from his Texas School he will get them up on the website as well, but with my leaving unexpectedly and his planned week away it just didn’t happen before I left.

Our shipment of Namaste Bags is on it’s way! These are currently available in the showroom only, so come by and see what’s new next week.
