This is the shawl we will be making as modeled by my beautiful friend, Gloria in her wedding dress.  She just got married on Tuesday night, so many wishes for a long and happy marriage to Gloria and Stephen!

In other news this week, YES – I will be here and we will be open this Sunday even though it is Labor Day Weekend.  Escape the holiday crazies and spend some time with your yarny friends here!

While at the Stiches fest this weekend, I purchased a pattern of your entrelac baby blanket.  I have a question about the yarn yardage -- is the yarn required a regular worsted weight and I would need about 1700 yards?

Hi Sue,
The yardage requirements for the Entrelac Baby Blanket call for 4 skeins of Solana.  Solana has 320 yds/skein, so you will need 1280 yds total. Solana is a worsted weight yarn that gets 5 sts/inch on a US# 8 needle.

Christmas Stockings

Yup, it’s that time – time to be making those Christmas stockings for one and all.  Our quick to knit, Traditional Christmas Stocking is perfect! Easy to make, knit in the round and totally customizable for those who wish.  If you have never made a sock before and always wanted to try this is a fun way to learn.  If you are an old-hand at socks and just want some help translating your skills into a larger size we can do that too.

Friday is inventory restocking day, so those boxes and packages that have arrived this week will be cracked open and put out for sale. Be the first to see what’s new.

Saturday is open this week. Too hot to go do much but still looking for SOMETHING to do? Come on down and sit around out table. The air conditioning is going, the tea is cold and the company is always the best here at the Knitting Fairy Yarn Studio!

Sunday is our Stitchin’ at the Studio. We have a fabulous group of stitchers who gather here on Sundays and enjoy each others company. This is the perfect time to bring that totally boring stuff, like sewing things together and watch the time fly while you get something done!

August’s selection is The Beach Street Knitting Society and Yarn Club.  We are meeting the last Thursday of the month, so August 26th, from 1-2pm. It’s a great opportunity to read a good book, bring your knitting and enjoy the community of knitters that gather here at Knitting Fairy.
